Community Physicians Group announced the arrival of Dr. Rex Harris Jr. to the Siloam Springs Medical Center at 451 S. Holly Street in Siloam Springs.

Harris holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock and medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

He completed his residency in Family Medicine in Waco, Texas, and became board certified in 2017.

He and his wife Amy grew up together in a small town in Southern Arkansas, and have known each other since middle school. They both love Northwest Arkansas, and were looking for a small town to raise their three children.

"CPG offered a great location for them to plant roots, in a supportive community, with exemplary physicians," Harris said.

Harris' interest in the field of medicine began when he lost his ability to walk at the age of 3. He was diagnosed with neuromuscular disease, Guillain-Barre, which left him in the hospital for several weeks and with physical therapy for months thereafter.

"During this difficult time, doctors and other healthcare workers became my heroes," Harris said. "While I certainly don't view myself as a hero, I do strive to love and serve others, as well as I was served so many years ago."

Harris loves to do more with less medication, while focusing on overall health and a quality of life.

"My patients and their families come first," he said "I will be available as much as possible to serve the community and its members."
