July tax receipts up

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $33,518 in July compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $670,638 in July 2017, compared to $637,120 in July 2016, according to the August issue of City & Town Magazine.

County sales tax receipts were up $31,590 from $255,483 in July 2016 to $287,073 in July 2017.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonville, up $504,211 to $2.4 million

• Eureka Springs, up $25,668 to $241,034

• Fayetteville, up $170,494 to $3.64 million

• Gentry, up $9,704 to $62,277

• Lincoln, up $8,064 to $49,156

• Rogers, up $70,473 to $3.09 million

• Springdale, up $433,141 to $2.81 million.
