Chrisitan author Katelyn Beaty will be visiting Siloam Springs on Sept. 26 for a lunch and learn event to help women find their calling in the office, at home and in the world.

A Woman's Place Lunch & Learn, sponsored by DaySpring Cards, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Siloam Springs Community Building. It is open to the public and tickets cost $12 to cover the cost of lunch, which will be catered by Edibles by Zoe. They can be purchased at https://awomansplacesiloam.eventbrite.com.

Brenda Turner, Dayspring communications director, said that the company often invites authors and experts to employee lunch and learn events. The company decided to open this event to the public to share with the community, she said.

Beaty is an editor at large for Christianity Today, co-founder of the women's website Her.meneutics and author of A Woman's Place: A Christian Vision for Your Calling in the Office, the Home, and the World, according to her biography. During the nine years Beaty has spent at the magazine, she has served as the youngest and first female print managing editor. She has also written for publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Atlantic, and has appeared on CNN, CBS, NPR, the Associated Press, Religion News Service, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, her biography states.

Her book, A Woman's Place, focuses a biblical approach to work, according to a summary. In her book, Beaty points to the biblical and historical truth that women have always worked, and unpacks how the industrial revolution separated work and home, the summary states. This separation led to a continuing debate over whether women should stay at home or go into the marketplace. The conversation has often left Christian women wondering whether or not they have made the right decision.

"To date, there is very little peer support for the Christian working mom," Beaty writes.

Beaty's book uses profiles of real women, and in her core message, she urges all women into a better framework around their calling, whether it be caring for children, running a home, or working full-time or part-time.
