Swimmers compete at Bentonville meet

BENTONVILLE -- The Siloam Springs swim teams competed Thursday, Nov. 30, in the 2017 Bentonville Classic at the Bentonville Community Center.

Siloam Springs' girls finished seventh overall with 188 points, while the boys finished fifth with 195 points. The combined scores had Siloam Springs at sixth overall.

Webb City, Mo., was the winner of the girls division, while Bentonville won the boys division and the overall championship.

In the girls 200-yard medley relay, the team of Kate Gryder, Claudia Manning, Caroline Farine and Catherine Donner placed seventh at 2 minutes, 21.19 seconds. The team of Baleigh Butler, McKenzie Blanchard, Abigail Haak and Chandler Losh took 10th at 2:33.58.

The boys' 200-yard medley relay team of Will Gryder, Landon Cottrell, Lee Thompson and Hayden Moore placed fourth at 1:54.85. The team of Owen Thomas, Chase Kruger, Harrison Losh and Mason Clayton took 10th at 2:11.03.

Thomas placed 12th in the boys 200-yard freestyle with a finish of 2:16.01, while Sean Jeppsen was 14th at 2:33.44.

Butler placed ninth in the girls 200-yard individual medley at 3:17.59, while Chandler Losh was 10th at 3:17.75.

Cottrell placed sixth in the boys 200-yard individual medley at 2:18.56, while Kruger was 13th at 2:39.67 and Ethan Andrus 16th at 3:04.35.

Farine led the Lady Panthers in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.61, finishing 11th, followed by Kate Gryder in 13th at 28.86, Blanchard 30th at 35.80, Camryn Kendrick 37th at 37.72, HannaJoy Morgan 38th at 37.96, Jenifer Reyes 40th at 39.03 and Jenna Weilnau 45th at 54.29.

Will Gryder placed 14th in the boys 50-yard freestyle relay at 27.76, while Harrison Losh was 19th at 29.03, Javan Brewer 30th at 32.30 and Matt Hargett 33rd at 32.65.

Manning placed 12th in the girls 100-yard butterfly at 1:20.72.

Thompson placed eighth in the boys 100-yard butterfly at 1:02.68, while Sean Jeppsen was 15th at 1:23.36.

Brewer finished 29th in the boys 100-yard freestyle at 1:13.69.

Thomas placed eighth in the boys 500-yard freestyle at 6:14.20.

The Lady Panthers' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Farine, Catherine Donner, Manning and Kate Gryder placed seventh with a time of 2:01.16. The team of Morgan, Haak, Kendrick and Chandler Losh took ninth at 2:22.87.

The boys' 200-yard freestyle relay of Moore, Kruger, Thompson and Cottrell placed third at 1:44.30. The team of Harrison Losh, Jeppsen, Hargett and Brewer placed 10th at 2:05.34.

Kate Gryder led the Lady Panthers in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:13.67, while Butler was 12th at 1:23.91, Reyes 18th at 1:45.41 and Morgan 19th at 1:49.09.

Donner placed ninth in the girls 100-yard freestyle at 1:29.47, while Manning was 10th at 1:29.57, Haak 11th at 1:31.73 and Blanchard 12th at 1:35.86.

Cottrell placed third in the boys 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.01, while Andrus was 18th at 1:34.62 and Hargett 19th at 1:40.98.

The girls 400-yard relay team of Haak, Morgan, Butler and Reyes took ninth at 5:20.35. The team of Farine, Chandler Losh, Kendrick and Donner finished 10th at 5:20.97.

The boys 400-yard relay of Kruger, Thomas, Harrison Losh and Thompson placed eighth at 4:11.28. The team of Andrus, Jeppsen, Brewer and Hargett placed 10th at 4:49.54.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers are scheduled to host the Siloam Springs Invitational at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hub White Pool inside the Walton Lifetime Health Complex at John Brown University.
