The City of Siloam Springs is warning business owners of a possible scam.
A company calling itself Xtreme Marketing is claiming to be reselling advertising on maps for the City of Siloam Springs and Benton County.
"The city does not produce a map where we sell ads," said city communications officer Holland Hayden.
Hayden said she has not received any direct complaints, but has had conversations with the city's chamber of commerce and Benton County Communication Director about the scam.
The city is urging businesses to treat the calls as suspicious and fraudulent. A customer complaint with the Arkansas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Department has been filed.
A message left at Xtreme Marketing, based in Arlington, Texas, had not been returned at press time.
