Letter to the Editor - Harmon, Cundiff

What does a sick dog do?

I've told my two Shih Tzu dogs over and over -- you may get sick from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday or before noon on Saturday -- only.

They seem to go ahead and get sick after 5 -- Saturday and Sunday.

In Siloam Springs we do not have (emergency) vet care (on the weekends) -- the lady on the phone says go to Springdale. That is often not possible. What does a sick dog do?

Building and Nuisance Code a nuisance

December 20th, a meeting by the City Board deciding a Building and Nuisance Code that will potentially decide where you can have a coffee pot or a microwave in your home was discussed.

The discussion by the Board is disgusting, not just by the frivolity of where you put your coffee pot or microwave, but also by how the authorities would enter your home to check where your coffee pot and microwave are.

The enforcement of this Building and Nuisance Code will be initiated not by a Code Enforcement Officer, but by any citizen that considers your property a nuisance by their interpretation, thereby enabling the city to enter your home upon the complaint, to check your windows, doorways, microwaves, and your coffee pots.

The enforcement of this code will be driven and encouraged by the city to any citizen that could have a grudge or dislike for you from the past. This is a copy of the Russian snitch system in every corner in Russia!

In closing, I took all information for this letter and elaborated on it from the Siloam Sunday issue on Dec. 18 of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. And, remember -- Welcome to the novel "1984" by George Orwell, just 32 years later!
