John Brown men's basketball assistant coach Ty Beard has been hired at Baylor as Director of Video Operations for men's basketball, according to a Baylor news release.

Beard, who received his bachelor's and master's from Baylor, previously worked at school as a graduate assistant during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.

Beard came to JBU in the summer 2014 along with head coach Jason Beschta, who were both at Oklahoma Wesleyan for three seasons prior to coming to JBU.

"I am so happy for Ty and his family at the opportunity to make this great move back to Baylor," said Beschta, who has also worked at Baylor. "I am extremely thankful for the last six years with Ty. We have made such a good team and become great friends in the process. I was fortunate to be able to hold on to him for this long because he is a tremendous assistant and has a big future ahead of him."

In Beard's three seasons as assistant coach, the Golden Eagles had a 44-49 record overall and 20-34 mark in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

John Brown went 16-15 in 2014-15 with an 8-10 record in the SAC, followed by a 13-19 overall record and 5-13 conference mark in 2015-16.

The Golden Eagles improved to 15-15 and 7-11 in 2016-17.

"We have made some unbelievable memories over the last 3 years in Siloam Springs," Beard wrote in a post on Instagram. "John Brown will always be a special place to our family. However, we are excited and looking forward to the next season of our lives back at Baylor and the Lone Star State"

Beschta said there is no rush in naming the Golden Eagles' next assistant coach.

"I'm not in a hurry to find his replacement, but I am looking now and sorting through a bunch of names and talking to various people," Beschta said. "I'm hoping to interview someone in the next couple of weeks and have someone in place by August. This is a big recruiting summer for us since we will have no seniors next year, so it allows us a little bit more time to make sure we find the right guy."
