Ginny Stewart's recipes were feature in the Siloam 's Cookin'! column. One of those featured was Lemon Cornmeal Cookies.

Lemon Cornmeal Cookies

1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter at room temperature

1 cup sugar

2 egg yolks

1 tsp. grated lemon peel

1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup yellow cornmeal

Additional sugar for topping

Place butter and sugar in a medium-sized mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until lighter in color and well blended. Add egg yolks and mix well. Stir in lemon peel, flour and cornmeal to mix well.

Wrap dough in a plastic bag and chill 3 to 4 hours until firm. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out the dough on a very lightly floured surface or between sheets of waxed paper to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into heart shapes, using a 2 1/2-inch cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and sprinkle with additional sugar.

Bake in center of oven 8 to 10 minutes until edges are browned. Dough may be rolled into a 2-inch cylinder before chilling and cut into rounds about 1/4-inch thick before baking.

Three members of the Siloam Springs Rotary Club received Paul Harris Fellowships. Carla Wasson was awarded her first Paul Harris Fellowship; incoming club president Darrell Nesbitt received his second; and outgoing treasurer Marion Snider received his third award. Snider, who served as treasurer for nearly 20 years, had also been president and was the first member of the local Rotary Club to be honored with a Paul Harris Fellowship. The award is made to those members who make contributions to the Rotary International Foundation, whose clubs make contributions in their honor or whose fellow members make contributions in their honor.
