Post 29 goes 1-1 in Harrison tournament

HARRISON -- Siloam Springs Post 29 began its American Legion baseball summer schedule by going 1-1 over the weekend in a rain-shortened tournament in Harrison.

Post 29 (1-1) defeated Batesville 13-7 on Friday night in its opening game of the season, but the Panthers were defeated on Saturday 15-2 by the Tri-County Tropics of the River Valley.

The Panthers' scheduled season opener was May 30 at Lincoln, but that game was postponed because Lincoln did not have enough players available.

Post 29 was scheduled to play against Rogers on Tuesday at Rogers. Results were not available at presstime.

The Panthers were scheduled to play their first home games on Wednesday with a doubleheader at James Butts Baseball Park.

Post 29 will play at 6 p.m. against Springdale, followed by another game against RBI Baseball Academy out of Bentonville. A small opening day ceremony is planned for around 5:40 p.m., according to general manager Allen Broyles.
