CONWAY -- Thanks to a late goal from Hot Springs standout Erick Guadron, Brent Crenshaw is still undefeated in all-star soccer games.

Guadron scored the game-winner with 11 minutes left to lift the West to a 3-2 victory over the East in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star boys soccer game on Wednesday at Estes Stadium on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.

Guardon, who had 187 goals in his career at Hot Springs, is headed to Arizona State to play college soccer in the fall. He was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

Crenshaw, the Siloam Springs head coach and the head coach of the West, said Guadron is a great player.

"That's what big players do," Crenshaw said. "That's why he's one of the leading goalscorers in the state and going on to play college."

Crenshaw, personally, moved to 5-0 in all-star games he's participated in, one as a player and three others as a coach in Oklahoma.

"It was a great game," Crenshaw said. "It's tough to put a group of 20 kids together in two or three days into one system. But they found a way to put the ball in the back of the net in the second half to get the W. I'm happy for these kids."

Both teams scored a pair of goals in the first half.

Benton's Will Guerra scored the first goal in the sixth minute for the West, but Nathan Simons tied the game up in the 10th minute.

Russellville's Nate Turner scored in the 20th minute, but J.T. Holiman put in the equalizer for the East in the 27th minute to send the game to a 2-2 tie at half.

Siloam Springs midfielders Austin Shull and Francisco Sifuentes each played for the West. Shull got the start at outside midfielder, while Sifuentes came in off the bench.

"It was a good experience," Shull said. "It was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it."

Said Sifuentes, "It was exhausting, but it felt realy good playing with people that good. It was really fun."

The coaches reported on Sunday, but the players didn't report until Monday and then went through a whirlwind schedule to get ready for Wednesday's game.

"(Tuesday) we were like, man it feels like we've been here for three days," Shull said. "We all got to know each other pretty quick. It was a lot of fun."

Crenshaw was proud of his Siloam Springs players.

"Austin and Francisco, they came out and put in their work and did very well," Crenshaw said. "Hate to see them go, but at the same time excited for their future because they're just great kids."

Crenshaw, who's led the Panthers to the last two Class 6A state titles, was assisted by a pair of state championship coaches. Cory Sturdivant, who won a 5A title at Hot Springs and will be the first head soccer coach at Alma this fall. Rogers head boys coach Steve Peck was also on staff after leading the Mounties to their first 7A state title. Prairie Grove head coach Darren Chandler was also on staff.

"All the coaches were fantastic, starting with Coach Crenshaw and going all the way down," Sifuentes said. "Really good coaches and they knew what they were doing the whole time. It was a blast."
