Roth leads JBU women in final meet

SHAWNEE, Okla. -- Junior Reagan Roth led the John Brown University women's cross country team for the first time this season, but the Golden Eagles could only capture sixth place at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships, held Saturday morning at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center.

Roth's time of 20 minutes, 14.8 seconds landed her in 19th place overall in the field, just four places shy of qualifying for the NAIA National Championships. For the first time this season she paced the JBU squad, while scoring in all five meets this year.

Roth's finish was her best time this season by 29 seconds.

Freshman Sarah Larson capped off a strong freshman campaign with a time of 21:14.8 to finish in 28th place overall. Junior Kylie Tucker scored in all five meets this year, this time registering a time of 21:38.2, good enough for 32nd.

Just eight seconds later, junior Carly Coney crossed the line in 34th place, the fifth time she's scored for JBU this season. In the final run of her collegiate career, Kaitlyn Collier scored and nabbed 36th place with a time of 22:06.7.

"Reagan ran a great race to lead the team," said head coach Scott Schochler. "Sarah finished with a solid effort to complete her first season of cross country, and it was really cool to see Kaitlyn run a season's best time in the final race of her collegiate career.

"It was a good effort from everyone on the team throughout the season."
