Jones-Brown Pontiac Buick, located on the corner of S. Washington Street and Highway 68 bypass, offered the new '68 Buick Skylark for $2,664. Buick gave the Skylark a brand new look, a new shorter wheel-base, shortened by three inches. It was said to park easier and that a person would think they were driving a sports car. The engine ran on regular gas. Now, wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?

The Siloam Springs Board of Directors passed a resolution asking Cable TV to restore KOAM-TV, a CBS affiliate broadcasting from Pittsburgh, Kan., to the city's cable TV service after the station was discontinued in mid-September by the company during programming changes.

A public hearing concerning the service provided by the cable was a possibility.

Siloam Springs Cable TV (also known as TCA Cable Television) had a franchise granted by the city board to provide cable service in Siloam Springs until 1991. On Sept. 17, 1987, Siloam Springs Cable TV added three new stations: WGN from Chicago, Ill.; The Discovery Channel; and CNN Headline News.

Along with the additions, the company restructured some of the channel positions. Viewers were asked by the company to observe that new station numbers had been assigned for ESPN; KSFN from Joplin, Mo.; KOTV from Tulsa, Okla.; KOED from Tulsa; CNN 24-hour news; and USA Network.

In order to make room for the new programming, the cable company dropped from its lineup KOAM from Pittsburgh, Kan., and KODE from Joplin, Mo. These were chosen because the network programming each carried (CBS and ABC respectively) were duplicated on the cable service.

The company's manager, Billy Cockrill, said the stations were dropped so the company could "utilize available channel space for diversified programming."

Just call Siloam Springs senior wide receiver Cody Reese, "Mr. Clutch."

Reese sparked the Panthers to a 17-point second quarter in a span of 1 minute and 20 seconds, thus sending Siloam Springs to its third 5A Conference West win of the year.

The Panthers (4-1 overall, 3-0 conference) turned in an all-around performance on both sides of the football and cruised past Morrilton, 40-14 at Glenn W. Black Stadium.
