Springdale Central defeats freshmen, eighth-grade

Springdale Central built up a 20-0 halftime lead and went on to a 34-7 victory over the Siloam Springs freshmen on Thursday night at Panther Stadium.

The Panthers had a few early highlights, including Elijah Coffey forcing a fumble on the sixth play of the game and A.J. Arriaga recovering for Siloam Springs.

But the Panthers (2-5) couldn't get much going offensively and went into the half down 20-0.

Siloam Springs' only touchdown came in the second half when Coffey returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. Coffey also recovered the ensuing onside kick.

Eighth-grade

Springdale Central scored a pair of touchdowns and recorded a safety in the fourth quarter to take a 16-0 victory over the eighth-grade team on Thursday.

The game was scoreless going into the fourth quarter.

Siloam Springs' defense had several stops prior to the fourth quarter, including a pair of stands in the red zone. The Panthers also had a fumble recovery and interception defensively from Josh Stewart.

Offensively, Siloam Springs moved into the Central red zone three times but was never able to cash in.
