Ninth-grade boys take second at home meet, girls fourth

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade boys finished second overall Wednesday at the Ninth-grade Panther Relays held at Glenn W. Black Stadium.

Farmington won the meet with 164.5 points, followed by Siloam Springs with 91, Shiloh Christian 83, Gentry 79.5, Lincoln 66, Prairie Grove 59 and Gravette 40.

Varsity Panther Relays canceled

The varsity Panther Relays — scheduled for Thursday, March 29 — were canceled after heavy rain this week caused flooding at Glenn W. Black Stadium, according to the Siloam Springs School District athletics department.

The eighth-grade Panther Relays were held Monday in a light rain, while weather forced the ninth-grade Panther Relays to be held Wednesday. More rain Wednesday night and Thursday morning forced the cancellation, which was announced Thursday afternoon.

The meet will not be made up, the department said.

Keegan Soucie had a first place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 8.5 inches to score 10 points for the Panthers.

Jeff Palvinson took first in the long jump and scored 10 points with a distance of 19-6, while Soucie was fourth at 16-7.5 and scored five points, followed by Broc Hilburn in 14th at 14-0.

Palvinson scored eight more points with a second place finish in the triple jump at 36-7 with Soucie finishing 10th at 33-2.

Keondre Westbrook placed third in the discus with a throw of 113-7 and scored six points with Kaden Crittenden 11th at 74-1.

Westbrook placed first in the shot put at 44-2.5 for 10 points.

The Panthers 4x800-meter relay team of Andy Almanza, Mason Clayton, Solomon Hufford and Ben Humphries took third place and scored six points with a time of 10 minutes, 27.77 seconds.

Palvinson placed second and scored eight points in the 100-meter dash at 12.01, followed by Soucie in third at 12.47 for six points and Hilburn 17th at 13.78.

Palvinson placed first in the 200-meter dash at 25.63 and scored 10 points, while Soucie was fifth at 26.16 and scored four points

Hufford placed seventh in the 1,600-meter run at 5:54.03 and scored two points, while Almanza was ninth at 6:01.15.

The Panthers 4x100-meter relay team of Soucie, Hilburn, Palvinson and Humphries placed fifth and scored four points with a time of 53.26.

Cole Ellis placed eighth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 58.23 and scored one point.

Almanza placed eighth in the 800-meter run at 2:43.17 and scored one point.

Lady Panthers

Siloam Springs placed fourth overall in the ninth-grade girls meet.

Shiloh Christian was first at 157, followed by Prairie Grove with 114, Farmington 106, Siloam Springs 103, Gentry 44, Gravette 37, Lincoln 14 and Haas Hall 9.

Chelsea McWhorter placed first in the pole vault with a height of 7-0 and scored 10 points.

Quincy Efurd took first place in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.

In the 100 hurdles, Efurd ran a time of 17.98 and scored 10 points, while McWhorter was fourth at 20.07 and scored five points and Abby Gross 11th at 21.75.

Efurd ran a time of 52.69 in the 300 hurdles for 10 more points, while McWhorter was fourth at 58.65 for five points.

The Lady Panthers' 4x400-meter relay team of Hattie Price, Jaebri Johnston, Efurd and Ashlyn Walker placed first and scored 10 points with a time of 4:49.59.

Camryn Kendrick was eighth in the long jump and scored one point at 12-5.5, while Abby Gross was 13th at 11-4.75.

Efurd took fourth in the triple jump at 28-1 and scored five points with a mark of 28-1, while Gross was fifth and scored four points at 26-9.5.

Bethany Mejia placed third in the discus at 56-8 and scored six points, while Rebecca Largent was seventh at 41-1 and scored two points.

Mejia was fifth in the shot put at 23-3 and scored four points, while Largent was ninth at 20-11.

The Lady Panthers' 4x800-meter relay team of Largent, Mejia, Hannah Pittman and Ashlyn Walker placed second and scored eight points with a time of 11:43.78.

Kendrick placed sixth in the 100-meter dash at 14.37 and scored three points, while Jaebri Johnston was 15th at 15.64.

Walker placed second in the 1,600-meter run at 6:23.57 and scored eight points, while Abby Thompson was sixth at 7:11.31 and scored three points and Kendra Reimer eighth at 7:19.47 and scored one point.

The Lady Panthers' 4x100-meter relay team of Johnston, Gross, Efurd and Kendrick placed fifth and scored four points at 57.71.

Hattie Price placed eighth in the 400-meter dash at 1:15.71 and scored one point, while Pittman was 10th at 1:16.97 and Trang Phan was 11th at 1:17.62.

Kendrick was sixth in the 200-meter dash at 30.55 and scored three points, while Johnston was 17th at 39.52.

Reimer took 12th in the 800-meter run at 3:16.96.

Johnston finished ninth in the high jump at 4-0.

Up next

The junior high track teams are back in action Monday and Tuesday of next week.

The seventh-grade teams are at Pea Ridge on Monday with the eighth-grade teams at Rogers, also on Monday.

The ninth-grade teams compete at Rogers on Tuesday.
