Martin Lee Bales, 55, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Aug. 7, 2018, at his home.

He was born July 8, 1963, in Claremore, Okla., to Austin Bales and Faye Briton Bales. He married Marion Lewellen on Aug. 15, 2000, in Bentonville, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marty Bales.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Bales; three daughters, Casey Eldridge of Quincy, Ill., Tina Ellis of Siloam Springs and Georginia Ratledge of Gentry, Ark.; one son, David Jackson of Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Welma Bales of Colcord, Okla., Walea Garcia of Chelsea, Okla., and Walletta Cotton of Galveston, Texas; two brothers, Darrell Bales of Lawton, Okla., and Herald Bales of Oklahoma City; and eight grandchildren.

Austin Bradley Jenks

Austin Bradley Jenks, 16, of Kansas, Okla., died on Aug. 5, 2018, at his home.

He was born on July 31, 2002, in Siloam Springs, Ark., to Jeffery Jenks and Amber Harp Wright. He was a student at Kansas High School, where he was a member of the choir. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Siloam Springs, Okla. He loved animals, watching Dragonball Z and Yu-Gi-Oh!, and doing Zumba classes.

He is survived by his father, Jeff Jenks of Colcord, Okla.; his mother, Amber Wright and husband Carlos of Kansas; siblings, Toby Jenks, Julie Jenks and Camden Wright of Kansas, Breanna Jenks and Amory Duncan of Colcord; paternal grandfather, Chuck Jenks and wife Rhonda of Kansas; paternal grandmother, Sharon Martin and husband, Roy, of Colcord; maternal grandparents, Betty and Terry Harp of Kansas; maternal grandfather, Gary Medley and wife Joanie of Texas; step-grandfather, Wayne Wright and wife Becky of Texas; step-grandmother, Mayce Kirby of Colcord; paternal great-grandmother, Ellen Freeman of Colcord; paternal great-grandparents, Lawrence and Ann Gibby of Colcord; and maternal great-grandfather, Fred Harp of Kansas.

India A. Lewis

India A. Lewis, 36, of West Siloam Springs, Okla., passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in Tulsa, Okla., after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 21, 1981 in Siloam Springs, Ark., to Jimmy "Porky" Lewis and Carmen (Rackleff) Lewis.

India was a multi-sports standout athlete at Siloam Springs High School in the late 1990s starring in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was named Miss Basketball by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the newspaper's Female Athlete of the Year award in 1999 while leading her Lady Panther basketball team to the State Championship.

She went on to play four seasons at the University of Arkansas and was second on the team in scoring her junior and senior year and helped her teams reached the NCAA tournament three of her four years there.

India's biggest accomplishment however was the smiles she brought to everyone's face. She brightened the room everywhere she went and enjoyed giving back to so many in her community. Her giving spirit was never more evident than two months before her death when she was hitting baseballs to her nephew's little league All-Star Team until she physically couldn't do it anymore.

She is survived by her parents, Porky and Carmen Lewis; two sisters, Brandi Preston and husband Mook of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Maci Lewis of Stilwell, Okla.; one brother, Jimmie Don Lewis and wife Jill of West Siloam Springs, Okla.; her paternal grandmother, Patsy Lewis of Eufaula, Okla.; her maternal grandmother, Nadine (Nanny) Postoak of Siloam Springs, Ark.; three nephews; two nieces; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

A celebration of India's Life was held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in the Panther Activities Center, located at 700 North Progress Avenue on the campus of Siloam Springs High School with Pastor Tim Estes officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

A viewing was held from noon until the 2 p.m., service time.

The family requests in honor of India everyone wear their Razorback, Indiastrong, or pink shirts to bring awareness to breast cancer.

Carolyn Lyons

Carolyn Lyons, 75, of Taylor, Ark., died Aug. 3, 2018, at Quail Ridge Living Center in Colcord, Okla.

She was born Dec. 26, 1942, in Union County, Ark., to John Henry Young and Mary Marcalene Warren Young. She married Charles William Lyons on Aug. 11, 1961. She held many jobs, including substitute teacher, social services coordinator, court clerk and domestic queen. She loved to cook and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a member of the East Main Baptist Church in El Dorado, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Lyons.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Kimberly Campbell and husband Barry of Siloam Springs, Ark.; two granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Young of Hot Springs, Ark.

Trenton Howard McCarver

Trenton Howard McCarver, 77-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died on August 7, 2018, at his home. He was born on January 8, 1941, in Cincinnati, Arkansas, to Wymer and Ruth McCarver. Trenton married Kaye Johnson on June 6, 1963, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He lived his entire life in Northwest Arkansas. Trenton farmed near Lincoln for over 40 years. He also taught and worked at the University of Arkansas, as a research assistant in plant pathology for more than 20 years. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and Education, and a Master's Degree in Agriculture. He was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandsons, Patrick McCarver and Justin McCarver.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye; three sons, Mike McCarver and wife Michelle of Springdale, Richard McCarver and wife Melissa of Siloam Springs, and Barry McCarver and wife Leah of Little Rock, Arkansas; nine grandchildren: Jordan, Haley, Ashley, Ryan (Olivia), Riley (Sarah), Reagan, Hannah, Chase and Emily; one great-grandchild, Evelyn; and two brothers, Clint McCarver and wife Marge and Larry McCarver, both of Rogers, Arkansas.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with the Rev. Clark Atkins officiating. Leonel Alberto Orantes-Castro, 51, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, in Siloam Springs.

He was born on May 10, 1967, in Texistepeque, Santa Ana, El Salvador. He was the son of Francisco Javier Castro-Villalta and Ana Elba Orantes. He served in the El Salvadorian Policia before coming to the United States, which he was very proud of his service. He was a general laborer, working for several companies throughout his life. He was an avid soccer fan, enjoyed going for walks in the park, was of the Catholic Faith but also attended Iglesia Pentecostes Nueva Vida and Prince de Paz.

He is survived by his mother, Ana Orantes of Siloam Springs; two sons, Leonel Alberto Castro Jr. of Springdale, Ark., and Nathan Alexis Castro of Lowell, Ark.; one daughter, Emily Marie Castro of Lowell; one brother, Angel Omar Ochoa-Orantes of Siloam Springs; and four sisters, Clelia Elizabeth Ochoa, Zoila Roxana Ochoa, Martha Dinora Cea and Margarita Del Carmen Medrano, all of Siloam Springs.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.
