The Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls continued their winning ways into the new year, despite being without their head coach.
The Lady Panthers extended their winning streak to four games with a 44-28 win over Alma on Thursday.
The team was coached by varsity coach Tim Rippy, who will likely be with the group for much of the next few weeks with head coach Erin Portmann on maternity leave.
The Lady Panthers (8-2) led 16-4 after the first quarter and pulled ahead 26-8 at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 32-19 going into the fourth quarter.
Jadyn Still led Siloam Springs with 14 points, while Julia Jackson had 13, Sydney Moorman seven, Quincy Efurd and Mia Hevener with four each and Makenna Thomas with two.
The ninth-grade boys were defeated by Alma 44-31, handing the Panthers (6-4) their second straight loss.
The Airedales led 9-7 after the first quarter, but Siloam Springs rallied to take a 21-18 lead at halftime.
Alma flipped the script in the third quarter, outscoring Siloam Springs 18-4 to take a 36-25 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Elijah Coffey led the Panthers with 10 points, while Jared Clark had six, Will Gryder, Max Perkins and Breck Soderquist each with three, Trey Whorton, Colin Evers and Solomon Hufford each with two.
Eighth-grade
Alma grabbed an early lead after the first quarter and held on for a 33-28 win in the eighth-grade girls game.
The Airedalettes led 10-9 after the first quarter and 19-14 at halftime.
Siloam Springs (2-4) closed within 24-21 going into the fourth quarter.
Reina Tiefel led Siloam Springs with 12 points, while Hannah Riley had eight, Halle Hernandez five and Grace Arrington three.
The Airedales won the eighth-grade boys game 44-20.
Alma led 13-5 after the first quarter and pulled ahead 20-7 at halftime. Alma led 29-13 going into the fourth quarter.
Jedidiah Hunter led the Panthers with six points, while Carter Winesburg and Brendan Lashley each had five and Jaxon Koistra two points.

Both the eighth-grade and ninth-grade teams return to action on Monday. The ninth-graders play at Rogers, while the eighth-graders host Fayetteville Ramay.
