The year of 1967 showed dramatic increase in the construction of new and/or additions and improvements of old residences and commercial building in the city of Siloam Springs.
According to reports issued at city hall, 113 residential building permits which were issued totaled $878,580, an increase of $554,330 over 1966.
The total construction which also included additions and improvements of commercial buildings was $1,725,657.50. Thirty-four building permits were issued. This was an increase of $695,486.50 over 1966.

The results of Tuesday's election for the Ward II position on the city's board of directors was inconclusive, after none of the three candidates received over 50 percent of the votes, as required by law.
Two of the candidates, James Henry Fuller and Dale G. Willis moved on to a general election slated for Feb. 2, Benton County Clerk Mary Lou Slinkard said on Tuesday night.
In the election, Fuller received 57 votes, Willis garnered 53 and a third candidate, Richard E. "Ed" Harrington received 11. Although Fuller received the most votes, none of the three candidates received over 50 percent, which is required by the state for municipalities under a city administrator form of government.
Slinkard said that state law requires that the two candidates who faired the best must proceed on to a general election, which "will be set for not less than seven days and no more than 15" from the date of the initial election.

Jessica Springer of Siloam Springs won several impressive honors during an equestrian competition with her horse, Zaborr Robert, at the Tulsa State Fair. Springer won first place in Western Seat Equitation 17 and under and second place in Arabian Western Pleasure ATR. She also was fourth place in Arabian Western Pleasure ATR Championship.
