City, county sales tax up in June

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $36,177 in June compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $648,172 in June 2018, compared to $611,995 in June 2017, according to the July issue of City & Town magazine.

County sales tax receipts were up $36,666, from $238,235 in June 2017 to $274,901 in June 2018.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonville, up $331,208 to $2.02 million

• Eureka Springs, up $20,998 to $210,735

• Fayetteville, up $71,996 to $3.54 million

• Gentry, up $14,560 to $63,263

• Lincoln, up $9,955 to $49,213

• Rogers, up $302,757 to $3.18 million

• Springdale, up $414,848 to $2.67 million.
