For the first time in more than 20 years, the Siloam Springs High School swimming and diving program will be under new leadership.

Stephanie Goddard submitted her resignation as special education teacher and high school swim coach on May 21 in a letter written to Siloam Springs principal Jason Jones.

The resignation was accepted by the Siloam Springs School Board at a special meeting on Thursday night.

"I have truly enjoyed my tenure at Siloam Springs High School," Goddard wrote in the letter to Jones. "Teaching and coaching my subject matter every day has been an absolute joy. Likewise it has been incredibly rewarding to watch students learn and develop over the last 21 years."

Goddard also is the head coach of the Siloam Springs Flyers Swim Club, and she says she plans to keep operating in that position.
