CONWAY -- Shaylon Sharp had some early jitters but those went away pretty quickly Friday night.

Sharp, a former Siloam Springs standout, contributed eight kills in helping the West All-Stars defeat the East 4-1 in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball Match at the Farris Center on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.

"It was nerve-wracking, but it was a very fun experience," Sharp said.

Sharp had some early kills in the first set, which the West actually blew a lead in and lost 25-22 to fall behind 1-0. The West then came back to win the next four 25-20, 25-20, 26-24 and 15-8.

"I think we just really came together after (losing game one)," Sharp said, "because we all just wanted to win very badly and our bench was a big help. We were just screaming crazy, helping each other out."

Sharp said the early swings helped settle her down.

"Yes that kind of helped me because, I don't know, it always helps your confidence knowing those first couple of swings are in," she said.

Sharp added three digs in the match. Hitting-wise, she had eight kills and only two hitting errors in 13 attacks for a hitting percentage of .462.

Timber Riley of Bentonville led the West with 10 kills, while Haley Warner of Fayetteville and Olivia Cox of Fountain Lake each had seven. Riley Owen of Paris led the West with 22 assists.

Greenwood's Lexie Castillow finished with 20 digs and was named the game's MVP, while Cox was named the West's Most Outstanding Player. Conway's Aryn Blumenberg got the award for the East with 15 assists.
