CONWAY -- Siloam Springs' soccer all-stars shined bright Friday night.

Brooklyn Buckminster scored her first career high school hat trick and Megan Hutto added a goal to lead the West girls to a 6-4 victory over the East in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Girls Soccer Match at Estes Stadium on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.

Following the girls game, the West boys picked up a 1-0 shutout win over the East led by game MVP Jack Bos of Siloam Springs.

Buckminster got the night started for the West with an early goal in the ninth minute, and Megan Hutto followed with a goal in the 10th minute to give the West girls an early 2-0 lead.

After the East scored a goal to make it 2-1, Buckminster was given credit for a second goal off a Skylurr Patrick corner kick for her role near the box as the ball went in for a 3-1 advantage.

Patrick, the game's MVP, scored two goals in the second half to go with another assist, while Buckminster had another goal in the second half for her third of the night.

Buckminster was named the West's Most Outstanding Player.

"It's exciting," said Buckminster, a Rogers State (Okla.) signee. "I never would have expected that I would have gotten it."

"I would," said her teammate Hutto, who's going to Northeastern State (Okla.). "She's the best midfielder in the state. I tell her that every time I see her. She earns it every game."

Siloam Springs' Sydney Bomstad started for the West as goalkeeper and played roughly half the match, splitting time with Benton's Jayme Selph.

Kelly Carson of Fort Smith Southside scored three goals to lead the East team and was named Most Outstanding Player.

Boys

West 1, East 0

Bos and the West defense shut down the East's attack in a shutout victory in the boys game.

In particular, the West had to slow down a pair of forwards from 7A state champion Fort Smith Northside in Jason Mendoza and Alejandro Iturraga.

"Their attacking presence was very much there with the Northside forwards," Bos said. "They're very good."

For winning the MVP award, Bos -- a John Brown signee -- will receive a commemorative ring.

"It's an honor, especially as a defender," Bos said. "I normally don't get much recognition, but I'm very honored to get that."

Luis Torres of El Dorado scored the game's only goal in the 65th minute.

Breck Rambo of Benton was named the West's Most Outstanding Player, while Evan Trimble of Conway got the same honor for the East.
