City sales tax receipts up in April

County tax recipts down for the month.

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $8,125 in April compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $608,871 in April 2018, compared to $600,746 in April 2017, according to the May issue of City & Town magazine.

County sales tax receipts were down $3,289, from $241,274 in May 2017 to $244,563 in May 2018.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonville, up $241,736 to $2.11 million

• Fayetteville, up $29,232 to $3.29 million

• Gentry, up $8,583 to $54,054

• Lincoln, up $912 to $45,540

• Rogers, up $16,145 to $2.77 million

• Springdale, up $75,544 to $2.23 million.

Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts were:

• Eureka Springs, down $4,483 to $141,735
