Seventh-graders pick up victory at Springdale Sonora

SPRINGDALE -- The Siloam Springs seventh-grade football team improved to 4-1 on Thursday with an 8-0 win against Springdale Sonora.

The game was scoreless at halftime, but the Panthers were opportunistic in the second half.

Anthony Sandoval had an interception early in the second half, which led to Siloam Springs scoring its touchdown.

Jed Derwin scored the touchdown and finished with 18 carries for 80 yards. Derwin also had five tackles and a forced fumble at the 3-yard line to end a potential Sonora scoring drive.

Justin Burton recovered the fumble for Siloam Springs.

Mason Simmons and Jackson Taylor each had two tackles and one tackle for loss.

The Panthers return to action this week at Springdale Tyson

Ninth-grade

The Siloam Springs ninth-graders lost 28-7 to Springdale Lakeside on Thursday night.

The Golden Eagles led 21-0 at halftime.

Siloam Springs (3-3) scored its touchdown in the second half on a run by Hunter Talley.

The Panthers return to action this week at Springdale Southwest.

Eighth-grade

The eighth-graders were defeated 35-0 by Springdale Lakeside on Thursday night. The Panthers dropped to 1-5 overall with the loss.

Siloam Springs plays at Springdale Southwest on Thursday.
