Meet Siloam Springs City Board Ward 4 candidates

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

With the 2018 midterm elections quickly approaching, voters in Siloam Springs will have a number of choices to make. At the local level, these choices include deciding upon who will represent Ward 1, Ward 3 and Ward 4 on the city's board of directors. Voters will also have the opportunity to decide who will represent Arkansas' District 87, as the incumbent, Robin Lundstrum (R-District 87) is up for re-election and is facing Democratic opponent Kelly Unger.

In an effort to help voters gain a better understanding of the candidates running, the Herald-Leader will be publishing Q&A-style interviews with each candidate in the coming weeks. They will include direct transcriptions of the questions asked and responses given, and while the same questions were asked, some of them have been modified due to the answers provided by the candidate as well as follow-up questions that were asked. Last week, the focus was on Ward 3, where the current Director, Frank Johnson, is facing candidate Marla Sappington. This week, that focus will turn to Ward 4, a seat in which the current director, Amy Smith, has announced she will step down after the completion of her term. This prompted two new candidates to step in; namely, Morgan Scholz and Lesa Brosch.
