Dean L. Amos

Dean L. Amos, 93, of Decatur, Ark., died Sept. 5, 2018, at Apple Creek Health and Rehab, in Centerton, Ark.

He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Decatur to Lester Amos and Mabel Chambers Amos. He was a life-long resident of Decatur and married Sylvia Hutton Dill on July 22, 1995. He was a cattle rancher and was active on the farm until he was 91.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; his first wife, Betty Foster; his second wife, Pat Bilbe; and a grandson, Brian.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; five sons, Harvey Amos and wife Nancy of Sulphur Springs, Ark., Lester Amos and wife Cheryl of Decatur, Clark Amos of Decatur, Jerald Amos and wife Connie of Colcord, Okla., and Merrill Amos of Colcord; two daughters, Marilyn Gosnell and husband Don of Tulsa, Okla., and Carolyn Mercer and husband Ray of Bentonville, Ark.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs. Burial will follow at Falling Springs Cemetery in Decatur.

Helen Eileen Gratzl

Helen (Eileen) Gratzl, 94, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Highlands Health and Rehabilitation, Bella Vista, Arkansas. Born July 25, 1924 in Ft. Lupton, Colorado, she was the daughter of Richard and Irene Schuyler.

She married Joseph Carl Gratzl in 1941 and they farmed near Greeley, Colorado, until buying a ranch near Siloam Springs in 1965, retiring to Bella Vista in 1979. Eileen was a devout Christian as well as an accomplished seamstress, artist and musician. She was involved in Home Demonstration Clubs, 4-H Leadership, community clubs and many church ministries. Helen and her late husband were also active in Gideons International. For many years Eileen played the piano at Concordia Nursing Home's Wednesday devotions.

Besides Eileen's family and church, her favorite things included entertaining, playing table games with her friends, traveling and listening to gospel music. She was known as a sweet, kind and energetic woman who will be missed by her family and community.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband who died in 2001 after 60 years of marriage.

Survivors include three children: son, Joe Gratzl and wife, Donna; daughter, Annetta Elgie and husband, Tom, and daughter, Barbara Henderson and husband Jim; grandchildren, Didi Roche and husband Bill, Jan Gratzl, Todd and wife, Kim Elgie, Anissa and husband, Bill Todd, Julie and husband, Johnny Mason, Josh and wife, Meredith Henderson and Jonna and husband, James Nixon; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Roche, Colin Roche, Colton Todd, Jennifer Todd, Hunter Todd, Jack Elgie, Helen Elgie, Henry Elgie, Isabella Elgie, Elenna Mason, Leah Mason, Parker Nixon, Kyle Henderson and Caleb Henderson; great-great-grandchildren, McKynlee Mosley and Brody Mosley; brothers, Lyle and wife, Jean, and Lowell and wife, Ellen of Colorado.

Memorial services will be held at Village Bible Church, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd, Bella Vista, Arkansas, Monday, September 10 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, Village Bible Church or Sager Creek Community Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

David R. O'Neal

David R. O'Neal, 63, lifelong resident of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Sept. 6, 2018, at his home.

He was born Oct. 2, 1954, in Siloam Springs to Chester O'Neal and Evelyn Powers O'Neal. He was a truck driver for many years, including driving for the Nolan Robertson Company most recently. He enjoyed rebuilding old cars and was a handyman.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda O'Neal; one daughter, Melissa Smith of Tulsa, Okla.; one grandson; two stepchildren, Christy Arnold of Pennsylvania and Christopher Johnson of Bentonville, Ark.; one brother, Douglas R. O'Neal of Siloam Springs; and one sister, Katherine Burton of Gravette, Ark.

Visitation was on Sept. 8 at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home followed by private burial.
