Adair County man arrested in connection with shooting wife, daughter

ADAIR COUNTY, Okla., -- Aubrey Johnson III, of Adair County, Okla., was arrested on Sept. 8 in connection with the shooting of his wife and daughter, after a two-day search that involved state and federal authorities, according to a press release from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Adair County authorities received a 911 call from a man claiming that his wife and daughter had been shot about 6:13 p.m. on Sept. 6, an OSBI press release states. When emergency personnel arrived at the location of the call in Christie, Okla., a community about 12 miles southwest of Westville, Okla., they found Golanv Kuriger who appeared to have suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, according to a release from the Adair County Sheriff's Office. Kuriger was transported to a Tulsa hospital by air ambulance, where she later succumbed to her injuries, it states. An 8-year-old girl, who was also suffering from a gunshot wound, was also transported to a Tulsa hospital where she is in stable condition, the sheriff's office release states.

The Adair County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the OSBI and U.S. Marshall's Service in locating Johnson, Kuringer's husband and the father of the 8-year-old victim, the OSBI release states. Authorities received a tip about Johnson's location and he was found on Sept. 8 in a trailer located at the intersection of Scraper Hollow Road and England Hollow Road, a short distance from where the original incident occurred, it states.

On Tuesday, Johnson was being held in the Adair County Jail. The Adair County District Attorney's office will decide the charges Johnson will face, the OSBI release states.
