Seventh-graders defeat Fayetteville Ramay

FAYETTEVILLE -- The Siloam Springs seventh-grade football team improved to 2-0 Thursday with a 16-0 win against Fayetteville Ramay at Harmon Field.

Jed Derwin had 13 carries for 88 yards and scored a touchdown in the first half to give the Panthers an 8-0 halftime lead.

Devlin Husong had nine carries for 68 yards and scored Siloam Springs' second half touchdown along with recording three tackles on defense.

Logan Keaton added three carries for 27 yards.

Anthony Sandoval led the Panthers defensively with five tackles and one pass breakup. Oren Shelly had an interception late in the first half to snuff out a Ramay drive.

Jeremiah Guest had an interception on the game's final drive deserve to preserve the Panthers' shutout.

Ramay won the eighth-grade game 24-14.

The Panthers scored their first touchdown in the first quarter on a 25-yard pass from Andrew Pilcher to Jonathon Graves, but the two-point try failed.

Ramay led 18-6 at halftime.

Siloam Springs scored again on a two-yard touchdown run by Hunter Jenkins in the third quarter, and Jenkins also ran in the two-point conversion.

Pilcher finished 12 of 20 passing for 156 yards, while Graves had 41 yards receiving, Gabe Cruz 49 yards and Stone Stephens 56 yards.

Cruz led the Panthers with 7.5 tackles.

The ninth-grade Panthers were defeated by Fayetteville Purple 22-7 in the nightcap.

The Panthers (1-2) trailed 14-0 at halftime. Their only score came in the fourth quarter on a 30-yard interception return by Christian Ledeker.

All three teams return to action this Thursday. The seventh- and eighth-grade teams host Rogers Lingle, while the ninth-graders will play Farmington.
