Boys golf team picks up win at Alma

ALMA -- The Siloam Springs boys golf team scored another team win Wednesday, defeating Alma 319-361 in an 18-hole match at River Valley Golf Course.

Senior Karson Clement continued his strong play with a one-over 72 to lead Siloam Springs, just two days removed from an even-par 35 on senior night Monday against Har-Ber and Van Buren at Siloam Springs Country Club.

Senior Chase Beyer shot 81 for Siloam Springs, while senior Josh Johnson carded an 82, senior Trey Jackson 84 and junior Evan Sauer 88.

In junior varsity action, Owen Thomas shot an 89 for the Panthers.

Blaine Chambers led Alma with an 80, while Alec Brown shot 93 and Dax Stahler and Devin Wood each shot 94.

Siloam Springs had six girls golfers play a round of 18 holes as Alma only had one individual compete.

Senior McKenzie Blanchard shot a season-low 79 to lead the Lady Panthers, while senior Kaitlyn Robinson scored an 84, senior Jaelee Snyder 90, senior Kendall McCormick 99.

Chloe Rocha shot a 112, while Kendi Williamson had a 111.

Hailey Parker played as an individual for Alma and shot 117.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers will now turn their attention to the 5A-West Conference Tournament, which is scheduled for Monday at Ben Geren Park in Fort Smith.

The top three teams in the tournament advance to the state tournament, while the top individuals also may advance to state.

The Class 5A girls state tournament is Sept. 26 at Hot Springs Country Club, while the boys state tournament is Oct. 2 at Paragould Country Club.
