Ninth-grade teams win at Springdale George

SPRINGDALE -- The Siloam Springs ninth-grade boys basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 31-20 victory over Springdale George on Monday night.

The Panthers (2-3) trailed 8-6 after the first quarter but rallied to pull ahead 16-15 at halftime. Siloam Springs took a 22-17 lead into the fourth quarter, where it outscored George 9-3.

Drew Vachon led the Panthers with seven points, while Thad Wright had six, Jordan Stewart and Gage Weaver each with five, Jackson Norberg four, Evan Sauer three and Ransom Van Asche one.

Lady Panthers 38, Lady Wranglers 16

Siloam Springs bolted out to a big lead and rolled to a win in the girls game.

The Lady Panthers led 13-0 after the first quarter and 19-3 at halftime. The Lady Panthers (3-2) took a 29-9 lead into the fourth quarter.

Lexy Fortner led the Lady Panthers with seven points, while Shelby Johnson had six, Madison Pharr with five, Maddie Vaughan, Candy Dubon and Jael Harried each with four and Turtle Shreve, Morgan Winesburg, Alyssa Maxwell and Brooke Henderson each with two.

Up next

Both teams return to action at home Thursday against Fort Smith Darby. The girls game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 6:45.
