Ninth-grade girls basketball coach resigns

Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls basketball head coach Erin Gatling Portmann submitted her resignation in late April and it was approved at Thursday's school board meeting.

She also was an assistant track coach at Siloam Springs.

Portmann is leaving Siloam Springs to be head ninth-grade girls basketball coach at Rogers High School.

Portmann -- a former all-state guard at Van Buren and Arkansas Razorback -- coached the ninth-grade girls for two seasons.

Siloam Springs went 13-11 overall and 5-5 in the Northwest Arkansas Conference in Portmann's first season in 2016-17. Portmann coached about half the year in 2017-18 before missing the last half of the season while on maternity leave. Head varsity coach Tim Rippy filled in during her absence. The Lady Panthers finished 14-7 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
