Both of the Siloam Springs track teams finished second overall at the Pea Ridge High School Invitational held Thursday at Blackhawk Stadium in Pea Ridge.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers finished behind host Pea Ridge in both the boys and girls meets.

"I'm extremely proud of the boys and girls teams finishing runner-up at a good Pea Ridge meet," said Siloam Springs co-head coach Chuck Jones. "They did a nice job. It's fun when the entire team experiences success. We had several PRs (personal records) on the day and that's always exciting."

Girls

Pea Ridge won the meet with 165 points, followed by Siloam Springs in second with 91, Farmington 86, Springdale 78, Cedarville 46, Shiloh Christian 39, West Fork 39, Providence Academy 33, Prairie Grove 30.5, Life Way Christian 15, Rogers 10, Southwest (Washburn, Mo.) 5, Northwest Arkansas Classical 3.5, Elkins 3, Haas Hall Bentonville 3, Gentry 3 and Lincoln 1.

For the second straight week, junior Jael Harried earned the high point award for the meet, finishing with 36 of the Lady Panthers' 91 points.

Harried broke the school record in the triple jump and finished first in the event along with a pair of second place finishes. This all came after she won the high point mark at the Panther Relays in Siloam Springs last week.

"Jael is a special kid," said Chuck Jones. "She's not only good athletically, but she's also very tough minded. She is a competitor. I'm so proud of her for breaking the school record. She had a tremendous day jumping all around. I asked her the other day if she thought six events were too many for her at the meet. She said, "Coach I am going to do what I am told to do." I love that."

Harried finished with a distance of 34 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump to take first place, while Brooke Henderson was fourth at 33-5 and Rebekah Rodgers seventh at 29-9.

Harried placed second in the high jump at 4-8, and she was third in the long jump at 15-6.5, while Henderson placed seventh at 14-6.

Harried finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 52.32 seconds with Quincy Efurd taking fourth at 52.60 and Rodgers fifth at 52.62.

The Lady Panthers had a pair of other first place finishes at the meet.

Candy Dubon won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:09.03, while Henderson placed 10th at 1:12.57 and Chelsea McWhorter 13th at 1:14.77.

The Lady Panthers' 4x400-meter relay team of McGooden, Harried, Efurd and Dubon placed fourth at 4:35.35.

"Chloe (McGooden) also had a great meet," said co-head coach Sharon Jones. "She ran a smart anchor leg on the 4x800 pacing a season best 2:36 split. She also ran a strong open 800 and anchored the mile relay well.

"Brooke (Henderson) jumped a personal record in the triple jump with 33-5. I love watching her compete. She's a team player, willing to run different events without complaint. I have to give Quincy props as well. She wants to run the 4x800 meter relay and still has the ability to jump right back on the track with the 100 meter hurdles. I'm amazed at how she does that well."

Boys

Pea Ridge took first overall with 144.5 points, followed by Siloam Springs at 106, Springdale 91, Gentry 86, Farmington 80, Elkins 32.5, Cedarville 29, Providence 18, Prairie Grove 18, Southwest (Washburn, Mo.) 15, West Fork 12, Lincoln 8, Shiloh Christian 8 and The New School 6.

The Panthers did well again in the throwing events as Keondre Westbrook took first place in the shot put at 51-7, while Kaiden Thrailkill and Fermin Velis tied for third place at 45-5.

In the discus, Kolby Fesler placed second with a mark of 130-6.5 with Westbrook finishing eighth at 110-7.5.

"Coach Henry Janes does a great job with our throwers," Chuck Jones said. "This season the group seems to have really dedicated themselves to a lot of hard work and the results are starting to show. Keondre Westbrook's 51-7 to win the boys shot put was the longest throw we've had around here in several years. K.T. (Thrailkill) and Fermin are seniors -- both tied for third at 45-5. That was a personal best for both of them as well I believe.

"Our discus guys were led by Kolby Fesler, who threw more than 130 feet again. He's been very consistent this year. ... Our throwers have provided nice points all year long to our track team."

Michael Capehart came in second in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs for Siloam Springs. Capehart finished the 1,600-meter run at 4:57.92, while Samuel Granderson was 12th at 5:27.30 and Ben Humphries 27th at 6:33.53.
