Sales tax receipts down

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were down $3,731 in March when compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $579,093 in March 2019, compared to $582,824 in March 2018, according to the April issue of City & Town magazine.

County sales tax receipts were up $17,128, from $248,874 in March 2018 to $266,002 in March 2019.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Other local cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonville, up $266,085 to $2.4 million

• Eureka Springs, up $34,905 to $139,112

• Fayetteville, up $15,271 to $3.33 million

• Gentry, up $20,097 to $70,534

• Lincoln, up $2,052 to $41,437

• Rogers, up $52,662 to $2.79 million

• Springdale, up $214,146 to $2.35 million.
