Comets defeat Panthers in nonconference game

The Siloam Springs baseball team dropped a 9-6 nonconference loss to Kansas, Okla., on Saturday afternoon at James Butts Baseball Park.

The Panthers (8-15) fell behind the Comets 3-0 after Kansas scored a run in the top of the first and two in the top of the second.

Siloam Springs scored three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game, however Kansas responded with six in the top of the fifth to take a 9-3 lead.

Siloam Springs scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the seventh to set the final score.

The Comets (21-6) also had nine hits, led by two hits from Jerimiah Harmon and Kobe Teague. Harmon had an RBI and run scored, while Teague had an RBI.

Chance Kolysko had a hit, an RBI and scored two runs, while Caleb Reding had a hit, a run scored and two RBIs.

Easton Wiggins and Rowdy Blackbird each had a hit, run and RBI, while Tyler Seay had a hit an RBI. Jeremy Verrett, Jake Morgan and Trae Foster each scored runs, while Daris Glass had an RBI.

Wiggins allowed just one earned run in 4 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and two walks, while Blackbird pitched 2 2/3 innings with two runs allowed, three walks and one strikeout.

The Panthers had nine hits with two hits each coming from Taylor Pool, Reed Willbanks and Elijah Coffey. Pool had two RBIs, while Coffey scored two runs and Willbanks scored one run.

Isaac Price had a hit and two runs scored, while A.J. Serrano had a hit and an RBI.

Baron Meek had a base hit, while Tanner Broyles had an RBI and Dakota Herrel scored a run.

Taylor Pool took the loss for Siloam Springs, allowing seven hits, six earned runs with five strikeouts and three walks in 4 1/3 innings. Tanner Broyles gave up two runs with one walk, two hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Siloam Springs was scheduled to return to action on Tuesday for a 5A-West Conference doubleheader at Russellville. Results were not available at presstime.

Siloam Springs will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, for its final conference doubleheader against Vilonia at James Butts Baseball Park.
