Boys track competes at state indoor meet

The Siloam Springs boys track team finished 15th overall at the Class 5A/6A State Indoor Championship Saturday in the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Vilonia finished as the Class 5A champion with 133.5 points, followed by Lake Hamilton 83, Nettelton 35.5, Benton 35, Marion 33, Russellville 33, Hot Springs Lakeside 30.5, Maumelle 29, El Dorado 18, Greenbrier 14, Greenwood 14, Beebe 13, Alma 13 , Sheridan 12, Siloam Springs 8.5, Jonesboro 8, Little Rock Christian 7, Mountain Home 6 and Searcy 3.

The Panthers scored in four different events.

Keegan Soucie placed in a tie for sixth place in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches, and earned 2.5 points.

Alex Arriaga was seventh in the triple jump at 37-8.75 and scored two points.

Kaiden Thrailkill placed seventh in the shot put at 41-3 and also earned two points, while Jace Sutulovich was ninth at 41-1 and Fermin Velis 10th at 40-3.

Elijah Coffey finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.51 seconds and earned two points.

Palvinson Phizema placed 10th in the boys long jump at 18-6, while Arriaga was 14th at 18-1.5.

Phizema finished 19th in the 60-meter dash at 7.54, while Arriaga was 21st at 7.57, and Thrailkill 25th at 7.69.

Palvinson Phizema placed 14th in the 200 meter dash at 24.30 seconds, while Chase Mills was 25th at 25.66.

Mills placed 20th in the 400 meter dash at 59.41.

The varsity track team is scheduled to participate in its first outdoor meet of the season on March 8 in Springdale.
