Oklahoma teams begin postseason play

The Kansas (Okla.) basketball teams begin their postseason on Friday night when they host Salina in the Oklahoma Class 3A Area IV District 8 Tournament.

The girls game is at 6:30 p.m. followed by the boys game at 8 p.m.

Both Kansas and Salina will advance to next week's regional tournament at Heavener.

Class 2A

The Colcord (Okla.) basketball teams also open their postseason Friday in the Oklahoma Class 2A Area II District I Tournament at Oklahoma Union.

Both Colcord teams must win their opening round game to keep their seasons alive.

The Lady Hornets play Afton in an opening round game at 6:30 p.m., while the Hornets play at Afton at 8 p.m. The winners advance to Saturday's district finals against host Oklahoma Union.

Class A

The Watts (Okla.) basketball teams saw their season come to an end Friday in the opening round of the Oklahoma Class A Area II District Tournaments in Oilton, Okla.

The Watts girls were defeated by host Oilton 40-30, while the Watts boys lost to Cave Springs 72-55.

Class B

The Oaks (Okla.) basketball teams will try and keep their seasons alive Thursday when they play in the Oklahoma Class B Area II Region Tournament at Myskoke Dome in Okmulgee, Okla.

The Lady Warriors will play at 1:30 p.m. against South Coffeyville in an elimination game. The Lady Warriors must win Thursday, Friday and Saturday to advance to the area tournament.

The Lady Warriors beat Midway 57-50 on Friday in the opening round of the district tournament before losing to host McCurtain on Saturday.

The Oaks boys meanwhile will play at 3 p.m. on Thursday against Shidler in an elimination game and they also must win three straight to keep their season alive.

The Warriors defeated Midway 73-69 in the district tournament on Friday but lost 50-34 to McCurtain on Saturday in the district finals.
