Bowlers qualify for state tournament

The Siloam Springs bowling teams both clinched state tournament berths last Friday in the 5A-West Conference Tournament held at Conway Family Bowl.

"I am very proud of how our teams fought through adversity," said Siloam Springs bowling coach Ken Bolinger. "Many struggled with lane conditions and environment but worked through it and learned much about themselves and their team. We can't wait to perform in the state tournament."

The Lady Panthers finished second overall as Texarkana edged Siloam Springs 3,301 to 3,165.

Texarkana led 841-806 after the first game and Siloam Springs pulled within 1,706-1,688 after the second. Texarkana increased its lead to 2,630-2,597 heading into the baker games.

In the end the Lady Razorbacks held on for the win.

Siloam Springs freshman Shanna Stoll finished second overall for the silver medalist with a 500 series, while senior Holly Green was sixth at 457. Both Stoll and Green earned All-Conference honors.

Hannah Barker finished 13th for Siloam Springs, followed by Sydney Smith 14th, Rhi Spence 16th and Tessa Brown 19th.

Stoll rolled a high game of 196 and 176, while Spence had a 171 and Green 162.

The Siloam Springs boys bowlers also finished second, falling to Benton 4,132 to 3,742.

Siloam Springs trailed 1,116 to 999 after the first game and 2,330 to 2000 after the second. Benton pulled ahead 3,497 to 3,056 after the third game and heading into the bakers.

Freshman Colton Clark finished eighth with a 541 series which earned All-Conference honors.

Jakob Elledge placed 14th, while Nate Wolfe was 19th, Will Bell 24th, Josh Galkiewicz 32nd and Broc Hilburn 41st.

Broc Hilburn rolled high games of 225 and 179, while Elledge had a 212, Nate Wolfe 190, Colton Clark 188, 177 and 176, Will Bell 179 and 176 and Josh Galkiewicz 177.

The state tournament is Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Cabot.
