Heading into Saturday's game, the senior from Siloam Springs needed just two rebounds to pass Holly Wilson's career mark of 834 rebounds set from 1980-1984.

After being limited to just seven minutes of playing time in the first half, Cameron achieved the mark early in the second half finishing the night with four boards for a career total of 837.

"What a milestone, what a career," JBU head coach Jeff Soderquist said. "That record has been around for a long time. She's had an outstanding four years to be able to do that."

Cameron also got the job done offensively Saturday for the Golden Eagles (15-10, 11-7).

She scored a season-high 26 points, including 16 in the third quarter after sitting out 13 of the 20 minutes in the first half.

"I think it might have actually been a blessing in disguise in the sense that we put a lot on her," Soderquist said. "And sometimes Saturdays she can be worn out. ... I think it made her more fresh in that second half, which helped."

John Brown started the game hitting its first four shots from the field, including 3-pointers from Karina Chandra and Cameron, and led 10-0 early.

Panhandle State (12-11, 8-9) got back in it and pecked away at JBU's lead in the first half, pulling within one point of the Golden Eagles on three different occasions but never able to take the lead.

A 3-pointer from Chandra gave JBU a 30-26 lead at halftime, setting the stage for a fresh Cameron to go to work in the third quarter.

"It definitely helped having more energy coming into the third," Cameron said. "But also I kind of had the mindset that if you're playing more aggressive, then they're less likely to call it instead of hesitantly going after it."

Cameron hit a 3-pointer from the wing for a 35-27 lead and then scored off the glass for a nine-point lead.

Panhandle State's Taylor Acosta was hit with a technical foul with 6 minutes, 12 seconds remaining in the third and Cameron sank both free throws to open up a double-digit lead.

The Aggies rallied to get back within 49-42 in the quarter's final seconds but Cameron knocked down a 3-pointer from the corner for a 52-42 lead going into the fourth.

JBU exploded offensively in the fourth quarter, outscoring Panhandle State 34-17 to blow the game open.

After scoring 12 points in the first half, Chandra hit three treys in the fourth quarter to help the Golden Eagles' cause.

"We all know she's kind of struggled a little bit here lately," Soderquist said. "Part of it is I think people are guarding her harder too. It was nice for her to have a good night tonight. That was huge."

Chandra finished with a season-high 23 points and hit 9 of 15 from the field, including 5 of 7 from behind the 3-point line.

"She's a really fun teammate to have," Cameron said of her fellow senior Chandra. "It's nice having the confidence in your teammates that you can get the ball to them and they're going to take good shots. Recently, sometimes we haven't been hitting shots. I know that Karina's taken that rough, but she's also gotten in the gym a lot more and she's worked on it. I was really happy to see that she was able to finish tonight and score the points."

Jordan Martin added 10 for the Golden Eagles.

Overall, JBU hit 27 of 64 shots (42.2 percent), but they were 12 of 24 from long range and 20 of 25 from the free-throw line.

Addison Munsch led Panhandle State (12-11, 8-9) with 25 points and nine rebounds.

With the win the Golden Eagles completed the season sweep of Panhandle State after winning 75-44 in Goodwell, Okla., on Jan. 17.

"I was worried about this game," Soderquist said. "We kind of beat them pretty good at their place. ... (Coach Victor Esparza) does a great job of coaching them, and they're feisty and they play really good defense. I think they're one of the better defensive teams in the conference."

John Brown now enters the final four games of SAC Conference play sitting in a tie for fifth place with their next opponent, Mid-America Chrisitan.

The Golden Eagles travel to Oklahoma City on Thursday to face the Evangels, who they beat 86-71 on Jan. 12.

JBU then returns home to face a hot Science and Arts team that has won four straight and 10 of its last 11 since losing to JBU 69-48 in Chickasha, Okla., on Jan. 10. The Drovers are tied for third place with Southwestern Assemblies of God.

"We've just got to worry about ourselves and take it one game at a time," Soderquist said. "I think all those schools that are around us still have to play the top schools and we don't anymore. We can't worry about them. We can't worry about who they're playing and who they're not playing. We've just got to take ours game by game."
