Letter to the Editor

Follow Christ's teachings or else!

Mr. Calvert professes to believe God is justified in starving all his people by stopping rain, commanding locusts to devour their crops and sending plagues to kill them. He has no problem believing they were all wicked and none good. He believes all the men, women, children, babies and unborn babies of pregnant women God ordered killed in the ethnic cleansing of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites were every last one wicked to the core. Even the Samarian infants who were 'dashed to pieces and the unborn of the pregnant women ripped open' by God's command in Hosea 13:16 were so wicked they had to be killed.

The Answers in Genesis website article "What was the pre-flood population like?" states; "... given the extremely long lifespans prior to the Flood, the growth rate could have been much higher. Increasing the rate by just 0.001 would put the population at close to four billion at the Flood." So if God drowned 4 billion people, minus 8, does Mr. Calvert ever stop to wonder how many innocent babies God drowned? Or how many innocent unborn babies God aborted? Does he have even a basic ability of rational thought?

Mr. Calvert, food for thought from Professor C.S. Cowles in the book Show Them No Mercy, about the ethnic cleansing of 'Yahweh war': "Rather than bringing 'glory to God' as Moses anticipated, it so sullied, stained, profaned, distorted, and debased the image of God that God's name is 'blasphemed among the gentiles' (Rom. 2:24) to this day. Not a single nation was attracted to Israel's God, nor were they drawn to swear allegiance to Yahweh's sovereignty."

It is the archaic, corrupt understanding and instruction of individuals like Mr. Calvert which leads more and more rational people to regard so-called "Evangelical Christianity" with as much antipathy as the KKK, neo-Nazi, and white supremacist brands of Christianity. The excellent noble teachings in the Bible are the opinions of the men who wrote them. The depravity attributed to God in the Bible is the ideas of the authors who wrote them, nothing higher! Judaism and Christianity are on the same level of thought as is Islam; they all spring from the immoral conceptions in the first five books of the Bible attributed to Moses.
