Ninth-grade, JV compete at Springdale

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade and junior varsity track teams competed last Thursday in the Springdale Invitational in the first outdoor event of the season.

Ninth-grade boys

The Panthers earned two first-place finishes in the throwing events at Thursday's meet.

Jace Sutulovich placed first in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, five inches, while Truman Janes was fourth at 39-7.5 and Justus Locke ninth at 37-10.

Janes placed first in the discus at 141-8, while Alexis Miranda was third at 125-5 and Sutulovich fourth at 116-4.

Ezra Zaidner took fourth in the triple jump at 36-0, while Zach Jones was 12th at 31-0 and Jake McDaniel 15th at 30-3.

Zaidner placed 12th in the long jump at 15-11, while Ty Lewis was 15th at 15-7 and Gunter Cade 22nd at 9-4.

Zaidner placed 18th in the 100-meter dash at 12.96 seconds, while Caden McHaney was 23rd at 13.27 and Ty Lewis 25th at 13.49.

McDaniel placed 12th in the 110-meter hurdles at 21.41.

The team of Javier Chavez, Liam Scott, Malachi Taylor and Zach Jones placed fourth in the 4x800-meter relay at 10:04.31.

Ninth-grad girls

Cora Dewey took third place in the discus with a throw of 72-3, while Brianna Wood was sixth at 68-1 and Chloe Chandler seventh at 66-0.

In the shot put, Dewey placed 14th at 26-11, while Wood was 22nd at 24-0 and Chandler 24th at 22-10.

Kami Hulbert finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles at 20.51.

Hannah McCarver finished 17th in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.78, while Brooke Douthit was 22nd at 17.22. McCarver finished 17th overall and Douthit 22nd.

Junior varisty

In JV action, Esquin Bocanegra placed eighth in the shot put at 29-6, while Austin Race was 10th at 28-4.

Race placed ninth in the discus at 72-8, while Bocanegra was 10th at 66-2.

Blaise Becan placed 17th in the 100-meter dash at 13.41.

Ben Humphries placed 21st in the 1,600-meter run at 6:23.65.
