MUS defeats Siloam Springs baseball in tourney

The Siloam Springs baseball team was defeated 8-1 by Memphis University School in the Panthers' opening game Monday of the Best of the West Tournament in Collierville, Tenn.

Siloam Springs fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, but the Panthers tied the score with a run in the top of the second.

The Owls, however, responded with six runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a commanding 7-1 lead.

MUS added another run in the third to set what would be the final score.

MUS only had four hits on the day with most of the damage coming from errors and walks.

Taylor Pool was the losing pitcher for Siloam Springs, pitching 1 1/3 innings, while Colin Evers pitched 3 2/3 innings and Brandon Fain one inning in relief.

The Panthers didn't record a hit on the day as MUS's Riley Palmer threw a complete game no-hitter with five strikeouts.

Siloam Springs' only run came when Reed Willbanks reached on an error and later came around to score.

The Panthers were scheduled to return to action for two games on Tuesday. Results were not available at presstime.

Siloam Springs will complete its stay in the Memphis area with a game against Cabot on Wednesday afternoon.
