A Siloam Springs man was recently arrested in connection with rape charges.

Charles Joseph Minks, 59, was arrested on March 15 after an investigation indicated that he had an extensive history of physically and sexually a woman, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed on March 15. The arrest was prompted by a call received by the Siloam Springs Police Department on Jan. 23, in which the caller stated that a woman said she believed Minks was going to kill her.

Upon contact with SSPD officers, the woman said that on Jan. 18 Minks became angry and began following her around with a "billy club," stating that he was going to kill her. Eventually he calmed down and went to sleep, but the answers to further inquiries of the woman indicated that he has sexually abused her on multiple occasions in the past, the report said.

Minks denies the allegations and says he has never raped anyone, but he also told investigators the woman "wanted" to be physically abused and that she would "egg him on," the affidavit states.

Minks remained in custody at the Benton County Jail as of Friday in connection with rape, in addition to aggravated assault on a family member and terroristic threatening in first degree, all of which are felonies. His bond has been set at $100,000 and his court date is scheduled for April 22.
