Alma takes two against SSHS softball

After nearly a month of the season gone by, the Siloam Springs softball team finally got to play a home game as the Lady Panthers fell to Alma 24-1 and 16-1 in a 5A-West Conference doubleheader at La-Z-Boy Park.

The Lady Panthers dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in league play, while Alma improved to 7-4 and 3-1 in the league.

Alma led 2-0 after the first inning in game one and the Lady Airedales scored 10 in the second inning to take a 12-0 lead.

Alma scored two runs in the third inning to go up 14-0.

Siloam Springs got a run back in the fourth when sophomore Micah Curry hit a solo home run, her first of the season.

Alma scored 10 more runs in the fifth to set the the final score.

Halyn Carmack and Mariah Squires each had four hits for Alma, while Sophie Morrison and Taelynn Perry each had three hits and four RBIs. Alma had 24 hits overall as a team in game one.

Morrison and Mackenzie Martin hit home runs for Alma.

Morrison got the win for Alma in game one, while Jessie Robinson took the loss for Siloam Springs.

The Airedales struck for two runs in the top of the first in game two and then scored nine in the second to go up 11-0.

Siloam Springs scored a run in the second inning as Morgan Teafatiller drove in Aislyn Burchette.

Alma scored five runs in the third to record the run-rule victory in game two.

Squires had four hits and three RBIs for the Lady Airedales in game two, while Perry had three hits and three RBIs and Morrison two hits and three RBIs.

Sydney Smith had two hits for Siloam Springs, while Burchette had one hit.

Siloam Springs is scheduled to host Greenland on Monday at La-Z-Boy Park.
