Junior Golf Camp

Siloam Springs Country Club, the First Tee of Northwest Arkansas and the Siloam Springs High School golf program will host the 2019 Siloam Springs Junior Golf Camp from June 4-7 at Siloam Springs Country Club.

The camp will run each day from 9 a.m. t0 noon and is open for boys an girls ages 7-13.

Cost is $40 per child and camp is limited to the first 40 paid golfers. Experienced golfers or those brand new to the game are welcome to attend.

Having fun is the No. 1 rule of Junior Golf Camp, but fundamentals of golf etiquette and rules will be taught. During instruction, participants will rotate between several stations: Driving, chipping, putting and full play.

Kansas (Okla.) Basketball Camp

Kansas (Okla.) Basketball Camp will be May 28-30 at J.O. Jones Fieldhouse and the Kansas Event Center on the campus of Kansas High School.

Check in will be from 8-9 a.m. at the Kansas Event Center on May 28.

The camp will run each day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 28 and May 29 and from 9 a.m. to noon on May 30. Transportation will not be provided to and from camp. Parents and coaches are welcome to watch during camp sessions.

The camp is geared toward girls grades 3-9 and boys grades 3-7. The primary purpose of the camp is to teach basketball fundamentals and provide a good camp for Northeast Oklahoma. All campers will be drilled in fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, pivoting, rebounding and shooting. Special emphasis will be placed on jump shooting, post offense and fundamentals of one-on-one defense. At least 12 instructors will be available every day to give special instruction to campers.

Pre-registration, which includes a camp T-shirt, is available until May 15 for $50 and $55 the day of registration.

Senior exercise options

The Walton Lifetime Health Complex on the campus of John Brown University is a participating facility for both SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit programs. These programs are designed for senior Medicare/Medicaid eligible members and offer a unique blend of physical activity for all. Classes are offered five days a week and are taught by certified instructors. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. There also is a class that meets in the indoor pool on Monday, Wednesday and Friday called "Splash." If eligible, a SilverSneakers or Silver&Fit membership could be covered by insurance at no charge or for a maximum of $25 a year.
