If you haven't been to the library lately, National Library Week is the perfect time to get reacquainted. During the week of April 13-19 libraries across the country will be celebrating this special week.

"National Library Week is the perfect time to recognize the value a library can bring to a school, community or college campus," said Grace Davis, president of Friends of the Siloam Springs Public Library. "It's also a great time to thank all of our librarians and library workers who give so much to the people they serve."

Libraries are one of the unique places that anyone in a community can feel welcome and enjoy books, music and films, Davis said. "Libraries also are a place where community members can enrich their lives and share memories with their family."

Siloam Springs Public Library serves the city and its surrounding communities by providing not only books, music and movies -- but also the summer reading program, storytime for pre-schoolers, resources for homeschool children, movie days complete with popcorn, public access computers and a community meeting space.

"Our library has always been focused on what the community needs," Davis said. "Now the community has an opportunity to give back by not only letting us know how we can improve on an already wonderful asset, but also by helping us work toward the goal of building a new library in Siloam Springs."

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April.
