More than 210 acres of Dawn Hill sold

ROGERS -- Dawn Hill Country Club hit the auction block Wednesday, and more than 210 acres of Dawn Hill were sold at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. Nearly 13 acres received no bids.

A total of 223 acres owned by Luther Alkhaseh were included in a public auction of the Arkansas State Lands Commissioner. Alkhaseh owed $175,084 in taxes on the property. The original year of the delinquency was 2009.

The largest parcel received the minimum bid of $127,289. Pasad Amo of Farmington was the buyer of the 92 acres. The buyer also purchased a nearly 37-acre piece of Dawn Hill for $12,000.

The second largest parcel was almost 47 acres. It went for $37,000. Chris Willis and Tony Barnes were partners in the purchase. They also purchased a less than 1-acre piece for $26,000.

After the auction, Willis said the property would be used as a buffer. Willis and Barnes live at Dawn Hill.

After the auction, the lands commissioner must notify the owner and all interested parties of the right to redeem the land within 10 days, excluding weekends and holidays, by paying all taxes, penalties, interest and costs due. If not redeemed, a limited warranty deed will be issued to the purchaser.

In order to contest the sale, legal action must be taken within 90 days of when the deed is issued.
