Summer reading kickoff Tuesday

Kickoff event for the summer reading program starts at 11 a.m. Tuesday with a concert at the library.

Sign up to participate in the reading program before, during and after the concert, library manager Dolores Deuel said. The theme for the program is Fizz, Boom, Read.

At the kickoff event, Brian and Terri Kinder will play children's songs, Deuel said. The Kinders' group name is Kindersongs.

"Brian and Terri Kinder's concerts for kids are lively and interactive," according to a press release from the Kinders. "Combining his guitar- and banjo-playing talents and his whimsical song writing skills, they amuse and entertain children of all ages."

The concert will be 45 minutes.

In the past, a carnival was hosted outdoors for the kickoff event. But the carnival won't take place this year because school ran late, Deuel said.

Deuel said the library will host a show every Tuesday during the summer reading program.

The following is a list of some of the other shows:

• Marty Boone, the Balloon man, June 17

• Didgeridoo Down Under, June 24

• Still on the Hill, July 1.

Closing program is set for 11 a.m. July 29.
