Backes, doubles teams win against Saints

The Siloam Springs girls tennis team picked up a pair of varsity wins on Monday against Shiloh Christian at the John Brown University tennis courts.

Jocelyn Backes picked up a win at No. 1 singles, while the doubles pair of Kenzie Meeker and Olivia Myers won at No. 1 doubles.

Backes defeated Shiloh Christian's Hannah Cobb 8-5 in their singles match.

"Jocelyn has been improving every week and is starting to find her rhythm in her matches," said Siloam Springs tennis coach Scott Wright. "She is starting to play like we know she can. The key for her is consistency."

Also in varsity singles, McKensie Cobb of the Lady Saints defeated Siloam Springs' Madelaine Thomas 8-0.

The doubles team of Meeker and Myers defeated Shiloh Christian's team of Hannah Cobb and McKensie Cobb 8-6.

"Our girl doubles team of Kenzie Meeker and Olivia Myers is getting better with every match and getting themselves ready for the playoffs," Wright said.

In junior varsity girls action, Jordan Hale defeated Madelaine Thomas 8-3, while the Siloam Springs team of Jamie Richey and Valerie Lee lost 8-5 to Alberta Townes and Alisa Antuna.

Panthers

The Panthers' team of Kip Dooley and Noah Slater outlasted Shiloh Christian's pair of Smith Ney and Skylar Hudson 9-7 in the boys team's only win of the day against the Saints.

"Our boy's doubles team of Kip Dooley and Noah Slater had a solid season thus far," Wright said. "They have competed well in every match and are ready for the final push in our conference to position themselves so they can make a run in the playoffs in October."

In other doubles action, the Panthers' team of Hunter Wilkinson and Ben Holland lost 8-1 to Shiloh Christian's Matt Hodges and Jacob Belto.

In singles, Siloam Springs' Zack Gregory lost 8-0 to Ney, while Logan Foster defeated Heyden Smith of Siloam Springs 8-4.

In junior varsity doubles action, the Shiloh Christian team of Kyle Tune and William Zurborg defeated Zach Becan and Zayn Snow 8-3.
