Alma defeats SSHS tennis

ALMA -- The Siloam Springs boys tennis team won two matches in doubles on Thursday, but Alma won both singles matches and a doubles match to take a 3-2 win in a matchup of 6A teams.

The Panthers' doubles team of Kip Dooley and Noah Slater defeated Alma's pair of Carter Wolfe and Parker Work 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.

Siloam Springs also got a win at No. 3 doubles when Hunter Wilkinson and Chad Hall defeated Phillip Crook and Dillon Majors 8-4.

Alma's Cole Balkman and Blake Kuhkendall defeated Siloam Springs' team of Reagan McCarver and Michael Guffey 8-5.

At No. 1 singles, Alma's Zack Wofford defeated Heyden Smith 8-1. At No. 2 singles, Colton Battles defeated Siloam Springs' Zack Gregory 8-3.

Lady Panthers

Alma won both games in the girls match.

In No. 1 singles, Sydney Feguson defeated Siloam Springs' Madelaine Thomas 8-3.

At No. 1 doubles, Alma's Emily Dean and Karen Morris defeated Kenzie Meeker and Olivia Myers 8-3.

Up next

The Panthers and Lady Panthers host Greenwood on Monday at the John Brown University tennis complex. Both teams will play at Farmington on Thursday in a makeup match.

Siloam Springs will play Marion and Jonesboro on Oct. 6 in a tri-match at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. The 6A-East Conference tennis tournament will be held Oct. 13-14 in Russellville. The Class 6A State Tournament will be in Jonesboro Oct. 20-21.
