Panthers finish eighth in Springdale

SPRINGDALE -- The Siloam Springs boys golf team shot a play-five, count-four score of 188 Wednesday at the Chambers Bank Red'Dog Invitational, finishing eighth overall out of nine teams at Springdale Country Club.

The tournament was originally scheduled for 18 holes, but heavy rain in the area sliced it down to a nine-hole event.

Fayetteville and Harrison tied for first at 151, which Fayetteville won in a playoff. Rogers came in third at 161, followed by Bentonville 162, Greenwood 164, Springdale Har-Ber 177, Van Buren 180, Siloam Springs 188 and Rogers Heritage 191.

John Gibson of Fayetteville, Jackson Marseilles of Harrison and Chase Rogers of Rogers each shot 35 in the tournament, and Gibson won a playoff to take medalist honors.

Siloam Springs junior Cody Beyer led the Panthers with a 41 overall, while senior Aaron Jones shot 48 and junior Noah Karp 49. Freshmen Chase Beyer and Josh Johnson each shot 50 to round out the Panthers' scoring.

It was the Panthers' third round of golf in three days.

Siloam Springs wrapped up the Bomber Invitational in Mountain Home on Tuesday afternoon, finishing eighth out of eight teams.

The Panthers shot a 355 on Monday and followed up with a 350 on Tuesday for a total score of 705.

Defending 6A champion Jonesboro shot a 300 on the last day of the tournament to win with a two-day total of 609. Searcy came in second at 619, followed by Harrison 624, Greenwood 638, Marion 655, Mountain Home 689, Shiloh Christian 690 and Siloam Springs 705.

Wil Gibson of Jonesboro shot a two-day total of 146 to earn medalist honors.

Jackson Marseilles of Harrison shot the lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 69.

Siloam Springs senior Aaron Jones shot the second lowest round of the tournament with a 71 on Tuesday. Jones finished with a two-day total of 156 to lead the Panthers.

Junior Cody Beyer followed up Monday's round of 81 with an 84 to finish at 165. Junior Noah Karp took two strokes off his score of 95 from Monday with a 93 on Tuesday to finish with a 188.

Freshman Karson Clement shot a 94 on Monday and a 102 on Tuesday to finish at 196, while junior Will Gambill shot 106 on Monday and 104 on Tuesday to finish at 210.

Girls

The Siloam Springs girls golf team finished seventh out of seven teams Tuesday at the Bomber Invitational with a two-day score of 480.

All the girls in the tournament played a nine-hole round on Monday, followed by an 18-hole round on Tuesday.

Greenwood won the tournament with a two-day total of 392, followed by Jonesboro 406, Harrison 422, Mountain Home 425, Searcy 447, Marion 468 and Siloam Springs 480.

Sydney Gamble of Greenwood and Leah Rowe of Mountain Home each shot 114 to tie for the co-medalist.

After shooting a team-low 50 on Monday, Siloam Springs sophomore Brinkley Beever shot a 97 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 147.

Senior Amanda Glass, after shooting a 58 on Monday, shot a 94 on Tuesday to lead the Lady Panthers. She had a two-day total of 152.

Junior Bailey Turner shot a 68 on Monday and a 118 on Tuesday to finish at 186.

Freshman Kenzie Blanchard shot a 64 on Monday and a 126 on Tuesday to finish at 190.

Junior Alli Tolliver shot 63 on Monday and 134 on Tuesday to finish at 197.

Up next

Both Siloam Springs teams are off until Aug. 20 when they play Springdale Har-Ber at Razorback Golf Course in Fayetteville.
