Live and let live

What I don't understand is how people ignore the phrase "live and let live."

Our earthly lives are mere blinks in the billions of years that constitute eternity. Our genetics were designed for individuals and not for massive clones.

Of course, we are all different in many ways, just as we are similar in many ways. In nature, we have no control over the genes with which we are born. So why do we have so little tolerance for differences that do not necessarily impact us?

Surely, people who do harm to others cannot be condoned; but, if we or ours are not physically harmed or mentally damaged by another human being, why do we feel compelled to treat him/her as less than just another human being?

The target of our malicious thoughts will, like us, be gone from this planet in a blink of an eye.

Whoever coined the phrase "live and let live" was telling it as it should be.

In religious terms, Jesus admonished us to "love one another" and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Why waste your blink hating or being hated? Put your life to a more noble purpose. Use your blink to make someone feel better, to evoke a smile, or to be happy.
